What is noise induced hearing loss (NIHL)?

NIHL is caused by exposure to loud noise over a prolonged period of time. The damage to hearing is permanent.

If you were exposed to noise at work and have noticed a decrease in your level of hearing then you should visit you GP and possibly seek a referral to an ENT specialist who will arrange an audiogram. He will then diagnose whether your hearing loss has been caused by noise exposure.

Exposure to noise is typical in many manufacturing industries. Your employer has a duty to provide hearing protection. If that is not provided or is inadequate, there may be a claim for negligence against your employer.

How do I claim compensation?

If you have been diagnosed with NIHL and you were exposed to a noisy working environment we may be able to help you pursue a claim.

In many cases you may no longer work for the employer who exposed you to noise or indeed they may no longer be trading. We would still be able to assist in these situations and should be able to pursue the claim against your past employers insurers.

If you were exposed to noise at more than 1 employer, all employers would need to be contacted and pursued.

How much is my claim worth?

In order to assess the value of your claim we would need to commission a medical report. The value would be based upon the outcome of that assessment.
