What is occupational dermatitis?

Occupational dermatitis solicitors Dermatitis is irritation to the skin and falls into the category of skin diseases such as psoriasis or scabies and is hard to distinguish. It is caused by the working environment and falls into 2 types: irritant dermatitis and allergic dermatitis.

1 - Irritant dermatitis

This type of dermatitis is caused by the person coming into contact with one or substances which cause cell damage. It can arise from a one time exposure.

2 - Allergic dermatitis

In this type of case the dermatitis arises due to a sensitisation of the individual to the substance which may occur on one occasion or due to repeat exposure.

How do I claim compensation?

The dermatitis injury would need to have been reasonably foreseeable by your employer and he would need to have fallen below the standard of care of a reasonable and prudent employer.

You would need to have seen your GP and to have been diagnosed with dermatitis.

Your case would be taken on a no win, no fee basis.

How much is my claim worth?

In order to assess the value of your claim we would need to commission a medical report. The value would be based upon the outcome of that assessment.

Assistance

If you have been diagnosed with occupational asthma through exposure at work you may be entitled to claim benefit. This type of injury is covered in The Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (diseases). Your injury will be assessed independently and you could be awarded benefit accordingly.
