Animal accidents

If you have an accident that is caused by an animal, it may be that the animal’s owner has acted negligently, which has led to your injury being caused.

Road traffic accidents and animals

Animals can be volatile and even if properly controlled, can sometimes escape and cause a threat to drivers. This type of accident is particularly likely to occur in rural areas, and involve livestock.

A farmer owning livestock, cows, pigs and sheep in particular, must ensure he keeps the animals in a safe area. If he fails to do this and the animals escape or behave in a manner that causes a road traffic accident then the injured party may be able to sue the farmer for failing to prevent the danger.

This is also true of horse owners; if a horse is being walked or ridden down a road and causes a collision with another road user, be it a pedestrian or driver, then the owner of the horse could be liable for any injury sustained; if they failed to keep the horse under control.

This means if you have been injured in a road traffic accident that was caused by an animal, then you may be eligible to make a claim for compensation against the owner of that animal for your injuries.

If you have been involved in a road traffic accident that was caused by the behaviour of an animal, then please call us so that we may help you with your claim for compensation.

Horse accidents

Accidents involving horses are not just those resulting out of road traffic accidents.

If a horse owner allows you to pet or ride their horse on their property, they owe you a duty of care to keep you safe whilst you are on their land, and to prevent you from being harmed by the horse.

The same duty may also be owed if you ride or pet horses whilst at horse-riding or equestrian centre.

If horse owners are negligent in their duty, resulting in you being injured ,then you may be entitled to compensation.

Dog bites

If you own a dog or are responsible for handling dogs, then you have a duty to protect others from the danger that a dog could potentially cause. Failure to do this can result in innocent people being victims of dog bites and attacks.

If a dog has attacked you, leading to you becoming injured, then you may be able to claim compensation against the owner of the dog for your injuries. This is because they may have been negligent in their duty to ensure that the dog’s behaviour was kept under control, which led to you getting hurt.

If you have been injured following a dog attack, then we may be able to help you recover compensation for your injuries. Please call our personal injury team today!
