Apprenticeship Spotlight: From Student to Solicitor

We want to take a moment to highlight the fantastic support we have been providing to our apprentices. We have successfully guided many apprentices to qualification in various fields, including, Level 3 Accountancy, Level 3 Business Administration, and Level 3 Paralegal routes. It has been truly rewarding to see our apprentices grow, learn, and achieve their goals with our guidance.

Moreover, we are delighted to share that we are also supporting those who aspire to become solicitors through the Level 7 Trainee Apprenticeship Solicitor route. This is an incredible opportunity for our apprentices to gain hands-on experience and valuable knowledge that will pave the way for their future careers in law.  With the Government funding changes to Level 7 we are continuing to work with our Apprenticeship provider Damar to ensure we are still able to support those who wish to qualify as Solicitors and building a successful career.

Our commitment to nurturing and developing talent is evident in the success stories of our apprentices. I am confident that we will continue to provide exceptional support and guidance to help them reach their full potential.

James Wood

From Student to Solicitor: James’ story

James completed the 18-month SQE apprenticeship in 2025, which combines studying for the Solicitors Qualifying Exams with structured, on-the-job training. Reflecting on his experience, James says:

“The two parts of the apprenticeship combined well together, and I found that my development in the on-the-job training helped my understanding of the SQE modules and vice versa.”

The programme gave James exposure to every aspect of legal practice, going beyond academic study alone. As he explains:

“I would certainly recommend the SQE apprenticeship to anyone looking to qualify as a solicitor as it prepares you for every facet of the job, not just focusing on the legal knowledge.”

Kiteleys worked closely with Damar to place and support students like James, ensuring apprentices receive meaningful experience alongside high-quality training. We’re delighted to see how this collaborative approach is helping to shape confident, well-rounded employees for the future.
